In a lot of marriages, the husband is the one that brings home the money. This was the case in the Kramer family, but the problem with that is that the husband's job becomes the center of everything. For Ted, his job was so important to him that he forgot about his family. This made Joanna sad and upset because she was never paid attention to by him. We both believe that Ted should have been more of a loving, caring, and understanding husband to Joanna. Joanna pointed out that she never worked after she married Ted because he didn't want her to work but instead, be a mother. He never thought about her feelings or her needs, and with this, we both believe that he was a bit selfish. We both believe that Ted should have gotten custody of his son. Throughout the movie, we see how much Ted had grown into the father role. He risked his job just to take care of his child, and he adjusted to all the things a mother would have done. Single parents have so much to deal with because they have to be the mother and the father. Ted has certainly surpassed this role. He took care of Billy by reading him bedtime stories, making him breakfast, and taking care of him with Billy was sick. Ted rushed to the E.R. when Billy was hurt. Ted made sacrifices for his son, and that shows a great deal of care. Because of this, we believe that he should have gotten custody of his own son.

ReplyDeleteTed did a lot for Billy as he adjusted to his new role but how are we to know what Joanna did for Billy. she would have done the same for him, maybe even more. what makes her an unfit mother?
