In the beginning of the movie, Hal is a superficial man who only focuses on the surface of a woman. He concentrates only on looks, completely overlooking the personality. He is only seeing what he wants to see (following his head), but ignores the parts he should focus on to have a healthy, long-lasting relationship (following his heart). When Hal meets Rosemary, he is under the "Guru's" spell, and therefore sees the beautiful person she is inside, without seeing her real self. As the story progresses, he falls deeper and deeper in love with this woman who is magically beautiful on both the outside and the inside to him. But when the spell is broken, he realizes that his love is already locked onto Rosemary, and he never wants to turn back. Her looks don't matter to him anymore because he loves her for what counts, following his heart.
