Kramer vs. Kramer blog 2
Elliot Schwarz Kramer Vs. Kramer blog 2
In the movie Kramer vs. Kramer Joanna Kramer
leaves her husband Ted and her son Billy with no notice at all. I find that is
completely unjustified. To be sure she was going through a rough time, but most
of it could have been easy to resolve. She also left ted completely unprepared
for her leaving them alone. While she did recuperate there is no guarantee that
she would be able to provide a stable life for Billy since she walked out of
them so suddenly. So from my perspectives she is not justified in leaving.

shallow Hal question #2 (Hal changes)- Sharon Cortes
Question #2 (Hal changes)
Hal was a man who didn't care about what a woman's personality was like. He was shallow and only cared about her looks. as a man in today's society there are many people who think in that same way. Hal was just a man who judged women because he was insecure about himself. In the movie he would try to have a relationship with his beautiful neighbor but she didn't want anything. So when that man changed Hal he saw every single women beautiful. When he met rosemary he fell in love with her sense of humor beauty and how he connected with her. He loved her and thought that she was the perfect women for him. once his best friend ruined his curse by saying "shallow Hal wants a gal" he saw every women's defect. He was shocked by what he had saw and when he saw rosemary he didn't want to be with her. She would try to call him and he would just ignore her. He was ashamed of what had just happened. But the turning point that made him change the way that he felt about himself was when he visited the hospital with the children from the burn unit. He saw them with their burns and he knew that he had to change the way that he was with people. So he decided to go back to rosemary because he knew that he loved her and that she was the one for him. This was better for Hal because he turned out to not judge people by the way that they look but by their personality.
Shallow Hal, Rosemary Analysis - Camille Bates
In the beginning, we can see Rosemary is a very insecure character, she is most likely used to being avoided or ridiculed because of her weight. We can understand why she is so surprised when Hal suddenly takes a liking to her, since she doesn't seem to be used to one being so nice towards her. Her disbelief mounts as Hal spends more time with her, but she eventually realizes that he really likes her for who she is (although in this case, he was still under the spell). She is happy to finally find someone that she can really be with, until the spell is broken. When she sees Hal ignoring her and possibly seeing another woman, she reverts to her insecure state and the love she had for him crumbles.
However, at the end of the movie, Hal comes to her after realizing she is beautiful on the inside. She rejects him at first, since she thinks he is only going to build her up and then break her down again, figuring it was just another joke all along. But Hal confesses that he truly loves her, and proves it by joining her on her Peace Corps mission. As Hal learns to follow his heart, Rosemary learns that there really is someone out there for everybody, no matter what.
If Rosemary was a friend of mine, I would encourage her to stick up for herself, and that personality trumps appearance. If you allow your good personality to shine through with confidence, you feel better about yourself and have a better outlook on life. Relationships are more than just obsessing over one's appearance, and understanding one's personality is what lets you find someone that you feel you can really be with.
Besides, in addition to her caring and sweet personality, I think she's beautiful on the outside too! Everyone is too critical of body type these days, honestly.
Shallow Hal Head vs. Heart - Camille Bates
In the beginning of the movie, Hal is a superficial man who only focuses on the surface of a woman. He concentrates only on looks, completely overlooking the personality. He is only seeing what he wants to see (following his head), but ignores the parts he should focus on to have a healthy, long-lasting relationship (following his heart). When Hal meets Rosemary, he is under the "Guru's" spell, and therefore sees the beautiful person she is inside, without seeing her real self. As the story progresses, he falls deeper and deeper in love with this woman who is magically beautiful on both the outside and the inside to him. But when the spell is broken, he realizes that his love is already locked onto Rosemary, and he never wants to turn back. Her looks don't matter to him anymore because he loves her for what counts, following his heart.Tuesday, November 27, 2012
Nick Cinquino - Kramer vs. Kramer
In theory a father should be just as suit to raise one of his children as the mother. I understand that there are certain cercumstances that dont allow both parents to be involved, but i believe the most healthy enviournment for a child is for both parents to be present and involved. No matter how together the parents may be, they will both bring different ideas around the house. Im not saying that having one gaurdian is disfunctional, i just believe that the more people a child has around that care about them, the more they will learn.
Luis Avila - Kramer vs Kramer, Post 2

Joanna is
justified in leaving Billy and Ted, she needed to retreat from her cyclic life
to regroup herself. The life she had at home maintaining the household, taking
care of Billy, and keeping her husband, Ted, happy wore her out. Then that she sacrificed
the career she could’ve had to be at home all time made it worse, she didn’t
know anything other than home, home, home. She felt lost and swallowed up by
life. She needed to get out. Even though she had a kid and it is a responsibility
as a parent to take of it, her leave was justified. Just like in some work
places where you can take mental days and in court where they may check your
mental health if it pertains to the case, her leave was justified.shallow hal- Elisa
In my opinion Hal changed a lot and it was for the better because at the beginning he only wanted a girl for how she looked… he never got the chance to see what the girl was really about because what his father told him really stuck to him since he was a little boy. Then when he met that guy that is when he changed because he started to see the real beauty in women. Because he would see a girl who is really nice and she would be very pretty. His transformation was immense because of how he acted from beginning to end. At the end he finally saw and got convinced that the real beauty is inside not out, because outer beauty will fade but inner will never.

Luis Avila - Shallow Hal
Initially, Hal can be called mouse when it came to romance because he appeared to be afraid of getting an emotional connection to the women he ‘loves’, which is reasonable considering what his father told him on his death bed. In that moment, with him being young, impressionable, and most likely a bit confused as to what was happening to his father, Hal’s mind could’ve kept his father’s words in his subconscious, then as he got older it would’ve understood them better to later subconsciously infuse them into his personality. Hal purely wanted women and prized women for their looks, and then when he found something wrong with their physical appearance he would begin to find a way to say to them that he doesn’t ‘love’ them anymore, as if he even did from the start. As the movie progressed after the elevator scene, he fell more and more in love with a large woman, which appeared thin to his eyes due to the curse. He may have been seeing her personality through a physical representation, but that’s what he fell in love with, and the further he fell in love with her personality, the less he payed attention to her body. Then when he finally could see her real body, it didn’t matter, he became a man in the field of romance.
(I think this answers two questions.)

In the movie Kramer vs. Kramer Joanna Kramer leaves her
husband Ted after he fails to understand her stress. One might wonder if Ted
Kramer had not been so focused on his career or if he allowed his wife to get a
career herself so they could hire a babysitter than the whole story could have
been completely different. Ted is left
to raise their son Billy on his own and throughout the whole movie I think he
does a good job considering Joanna leaving was unexpected. Ted imposed strict
discipline after Billy disobeys him after eating the ice cream, but overall he
is a mature parent who raises Billy better and better as the months go on. His
loses his job because his mind is not focused on his job, but manages to find a
lower paying job for Billy’s sake. I
think
Ted Kramer should get custody of Billy because he as the ability to
supply a stable environment for a growing son and I am not sure if Joanna could
do that.

At the begining of the film, Hals personality was more of a front then his real self. The way he meet and veiwed women fit with his friendships and his insecurities. He had certain ideas he was not willing to change about they way he veiwed women and the way they viewed him.
I think hals transformation started when has began to look into himself. He wasnt changed as soon as he talked to the man in the elavator, the man just opened up the door hals insecurities.

Does it matter whether a child lives with his mom or his
dad? Shouldn't both be able to love and take care of the child equally as well?
Explain your answer.
I think that the custody of the child should depend on who is the most fit parent, and who the child has the strongest bond with. Since Joanna left and Billy made such a strong connection with Ted, Billy should live with Ted. In their case it's only right for Ted to get custody, because Billy undergoing another separation from the parent that never left him would be even more traumatizing. He and Ted had a great connection, and Ted had clearly proven his ability to be a fantastic father, so it was perfectly right for him to live with Ted. If it had been the other way around in which parent did what to Billy, I would have supported Joanna. It doesn't matter which gender parent it is, it matters who they are as a parent.

Andrea Guy, Shallow Hal Questions #1&3
Question #1
In the beginning of the film, Hal was very shallow. He only
talked to women who were young, petite, and pretty. He didn’t care about what
their values of life were or what kind of women they were. He only cared that they were attractive to
him. He thought that it was okay for him
to be cubby and it was not okay for women to look like they wanted. He dressed
horrible and only looked at women who barely had any clothes on. His transformation was that he didn’t see the
outside of a women he only say the inside. He started to care about the women
that he was dealing with. It wasn’t all about caressing each other, for the
first time in his life he had a healthy relationship with a woman. He changed into a better man.
Question #3
In the beginning of the film Rosemary was very negative and
she had no self-confident. She didn’t
think that she was beautiful enough to be with someone like Hal, who was
genuine to her. She would constantly
complain about what she is wearing and how she looks when she goes out with
Hal. She thought that she deserved someone who would tell her the truth about
her physical appearance that she’s ugly and she’s too fat to be with anyone. Towards the end of the movie, Rosemary
accepted herself for who she really is, which shows that she gained positivity
towards herself throughout the movie.
Shallow Hal Question #2- Meredith Decker
Ben Heaney- Shallow Hal Post
Provide an analysis of how Hal was at the beginning of the film
and the man he became at the end of the film.
Describe his transformation and explain whether you think it was for better or worse.
At the beginning of "Shallow Hal", Hal is, you guessed it, very shallow. He sees women, in fact most people, for what they look like on the surface. While the spell is on him, he essentially hasn't changed. He is still attracted to Rosemary because of her physical appearance, or what he sees as physical appearance. He doesn't see her real physical appearance, he still is attracted to her because he thinks that she is physically pretty. He doesn't actually undergo a real change until the end of the movie, when he realizes that he has been seeing people's "inner beauty", and then he realizes that he can appreciate them for what is inside them, and this is a great change for him to undergo. He has definitely become a better, more appreciative man.

Kramer VS. Kramer #2

I think Ted is an amazing job with taking care of Billy, especially
since everything was last minute and he wasn’t sure how long he would be with
Billy by himself. Being with Billy and taking care of Billy made Ted more of a
man and a father. He started to appreciate and love his child way more than he
used too and that’s something a man should always do when he has children.
It’s beautiful to see the effort of a father when he is in this
position, there could be the possibility of his giving up and just leaving
Billy because he has too many other things to worry about, like his job and
promotion, which has a lot of traveling involved and a higher paid job. But Ted
had to put all those things aside to take care of his kid. And he did a great
job because his relationship with Billy became stronger, and the way Billy
looks at him and depends on him makes Ted happy and proud of himself.Kramer Vs. Kramer sheet question 2- Will Fitzsimmons
I think for the situation he was quickly put in John was a good substitute for his wife. He changed almost instantly from a workaholic to a fulltime parent for his son when his wife left. I think he did deserve custody of his son because he did everything he could for him. He could have been a better father by being a little more sensitive to his son and being more patient, but apart from that I think he did everything he could to the best of his ability.
Kramer VS Kramer 2/ Kiron
In my honest opinion, I don't think that Joanna is justified by leaving Ted and Billy all by themselves. She basically left because she needed time and space to try to find herself. I believe that if she wanted time to herself, she should've done it before her son was born. It's not Ted's fault that he has to work all the time to provide for the family, and Joanna quit her job just to take care of Billy, so what seems to be the problem? The other thing is, Joanna left without warning towards Billy so of course things were going out of whack with the family of two. Then she had the audacity to take Billy back with her to live. I personally hate something like that, it's like a dead
beat father but the mother is one.
Kramer VS. Kramer/ Kiron #1
In a divorce, it is extremely hard to keep the child whose parents are going through the divorce out of pain, especially if the child is young and the only child. In order to keep the child out of pain, the parents either should live near each other so that the child could be close to both of the parents or if the parents live farther away from each other, then the child should be able to see them both equally like every other week. Those are the only ways to keep the child out of pain and happy. The only other possible way to keep the child out of pain would definitely be for the parents to resolve the conflict that they had and get back together. That is something both Kramer's could've done because in my opinion, what they were fighting over was pretty stupid in the first place.

Elliot Schwarz Shallow Hal Post 2
When Hal originally sees Rosemary he sees her as a beautiful
women while in reality she is an overweight person so she reacts nervously when
she doesn’t understand why he is attracted to her. She seems to suffer
depression a lot since she is rejected a lot by guys. As the film goes on she
opens up to Hal more and more even though he can’t see the real Rosemary. Some
advice that I would give to Rosemary would be don’t be so hard on yourself just
because you are overweight because you are better than a lot of people out
there. At the end of the film she forgives Hal and she doesn’t have a problem
with her weight.
