Zari Watts Shallow Hal Q #2

I

n the beginning of the movie, Hal was a man who truly earned his title. He was very shallow. He only paid attention to women that were skinny, young, and had pretty faces. However, he was hypocritically shallow because he only pursued good- looking women, but he didn’t hold himself to the same standard. He dressed terribly, wasn’t in shape, and had some mean looking sideburns. His transformation was from a man who only saw the outside of a woman to determine her attractiveness into a man who only used the inside to evaluate a woman’s attractiveness. I think that it was exaggerated in the movie because not everyone who has a good heart is unnatractive, and not everyone who is attractive on the outside is ugly on the inside. In the case of Rosemary, though, Hal’s transformation was definitely favorable. He was at the point where he wanted a serious relationship, and someone with a good and corresponding character takes priority over physical appearance in that situation.
