Heart v. Head: Shallow Hal - Bryanna Adams

I’m the type of person who follows their heart…but with a lot of caution. I think that our hearts lead us to do things that may be foolish and unsuccessful in the long run. The heart wants that “right now” emotional satisfaction but running with whatever your heart desires isn’t safe. On the other side, a person that only does the logical think is unsympathetic to the needs of other people around them. They are the type of people who are only concerned with themselves financially, economically, and in many other ways. I feel like I’m geared toward the heart side more than the head because I really do feel a lot of compassion for others and I’ve learned to separate people from their actions in order to see who they really are inside. I think my head stops me from going too deep or getting too involved with the wrong people. It’s my conscious and it keeps me grounded and level-headed.

In the movie Shallow Hal, Hal initially follows his head. He basically has a layout in his mind about what the perfect woman looks like and follows that to find love. Even when the spell is cast on him, he’s following his head because he doesn’t know that the women aren’t physically attractive. Once Hal’s friend takes the spell off of him and Hal goes out to pursue Rosemary not caring what she looks like, he’s following his heart.
