Kramer VS Kramer
There are several things that Ted could have done
differently to be a better parent to Billy, and a better husband to Joanna; and
both of them are mainly related to his actions (or lack of action) to Joanna.
She brought up her problems to him, and he neglected them to the point that she
left. This was irresponsible as both a father and a husband, because it caused
his wife to leave, which is a traumatic experience for any child. However,
despite his issues as a father and husband, I still believe he deserved custody
of Billy because of their connection. It was very hard for him to lose his
mother, but during the time that she wasn't there Ted and Billy built a very
strong connection, much stronger than any connections we saw in the family before
Joanna left. This does not mean that she is a bad mother, but it does show that
Billy has an extremely strong bond with Ted, and it would destroy him
emotionally to break it.
