In the movie Kramer vs Kramer, the husband, Ted Kramer, and his wife, Joanna Kramer, go into divorce proceedings after Joanna leaves for more than two years having Ted take care of Billy, their son. Despite Joanna being the mother, she probably shouldn’t get sole custody of him, for the better of Billy. He’s lived with Ted for more than two years in her absence and has gotten used to living without her. I’m not saying that Joanna shouldn’t be able to see him every now and again, but she shouldn’t get him. If Billy goes with her the bond that he and Ted have created would be broken because he wouldn’t be seeing Ted as often as he did for the past two years. That would be like repeating when Joanna left, but with Ted instead. Billy would not be able to go through that again.
