Referring to what Breanna said in her post about how Ted Kramer should have done a better job taking care of Billy in the beginning of the movie, I find it hard to agree with that statement. Ted is only human and having his wife just leave him like that left him in a state of shock and anger. It's hard to be a caring, responsible adult when your mind is all out of sorts. I think under the circumstances that Ted was in, he did an exceptional job of taking care of Billy. Sure, sometimes he was rough or distracted, but overall he did really well with what he had and after going through what he did.
Extra Credit Question #1: I don't think Joanna Kramer deserves custody of her son. She left Billy and her husband with no warning so that clearly shows she is unstable and not the best suitable parent. Ted stayed with Billy and looked after him. Even when Ted was struggling with his job, and he was so close to making the best ad in his career, he still put Billy first. Joanna put her life first, not Billy.
Extra Credit Question #2: Ted could have been more patient with Billy in the beginning, and maybe more understanding. However, Ted was just as hurt as Billy was, maybe even more because Joanna was the love of his life. I do believe that Ted should get custody of their son because like I said before, Ted stuck through the disaster with Billy, took care of him, and put him first before work, even because Joanna had left.
