Ben Heaney Kramer VS Kramer 2

Does it matter whether a child lives with his mom or his dad? Shouldn't both be able to love and take care of the child equally as well? Explain your answer.

I think that the custody of the child should depend on who is the most fit parent, and who the child has the strongest bond with. Since Joanna left and Billy made such a strong connection with Ted, Billy should live with Ted. In their case it's only right for Ted to get custody, because Billy undergoing another separation from the parent that never left him would be even more traumatizing. He and Ted had a great connection, and Ted had clearly proven his ability to be a fantastic father, so it was perfectly right for him to  live with Ted. If it had been the other way around in which parent did what to  Billy, I would have supported Joanna. It doesn't matter which gender parent it is, it matters who they are as a parent.
