In the movie Kramer vs. Kramer Joanna Kramer leaves her husband Ted after he fails to understand her stress. One might wonder if Ted Kramer had not been so focused on his career or if he allowed his wife to get a career herself so they could hire a babysitter than the whole story could have been completely different.  Ted is left to raise their son Billy on his own and throughout the whole movie I think he does a good job considering Joanna leaving was unexpected. Ted imposed strict discipline after Billy disobeys him after eating the ice cream, but overall he is a mature parent who raises Billy better and better as the months go on. His loses his job because his mind is not focused on his job, but manages to find a lower paying job for Billy’s sake.  I think Ted Kramer should get custody of Billy because he as the ability to supply a stable environment for a growing son and I am not sure if Joanna could do that.
