Ayaka Davies - Kramer V. Kramer (post 1)

I do not
believe that Joanna's reason for leaving Ted and Billy is justifiable. I
understand that she wanted to find herself; she wanted to find happiness again
and although I believe that everyone has the right to be happy, Joanna is a
mother. As a mother, I believe that you must stand by your child and your
family because your family should always come first. That's what a marriage is
about. You intertwine your heart and life with another and when you
decide that you want to start a family, you bring another life into the
world. You must protect that life with all you have and make sure
that your child has everything you can offer him or her. If a child is too
young to understand the meaning of a "divorce", your child is too young
to be left with only one parent. I was brought up with the idea that a family
sticks together no matter what. Of course parents fight and at times, they
don't see eye to eye. We always have to remember that fighting shows care. We
fight for things we believe in because we care about it. However, a child does
not understand that because a child's world is only so wide and so deep. You
can't destroy a child, let alone your own child's hopes and thoughts just for
your happiness because when you brought that child into the world, you made
that decision to always put your child first. Joanna left her ex-husband
and her son in search of her own happiness. That to me was a bit selfish
because even if I do feel for her and her feelings, because she is a mother, she
must take responsibility over that life she brought in to the world. Her
child's life should be more important than anything, and she should not have
just up and left Billy. Although Ted did a spectacular job at taking care of
Billy, Joanna should have stayed with them because Billy needed his mother and
it's not fair to Billy if she left and came back into his life all of a sudden.
A child needs stability and a family, especially at that age.
